U.S. consulate in Hyderabad by 2008-end

The United States consulate in Hyderabad, the fourth in India, will become functional towards the close of 2008, U.S. Ambassador David C. Mulford announced here on Tuesday.
An amount of $ 7.6 million has been earmarked in the U.S. Government’s budget for renovation and modernisation of the Paigah Palace in Begumpet, the existing location of the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority , where the consulate will be housed for five years. An agreement for leasing out the structure to the U.S. consulate was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy by Ambassador Mulford and Principal Secretary GAD. C. R. Biswal.
